The Department of Laboratory Medicine in Shree Aggarsain International Hospital works 24x7 and offer a wide range of quality assured laboratory investigation servicesusing the latest technology, state of art equipment’s and testing facilities manned by experienced / trained doctors andtechnicians.Department of Laboratory Medicine provides timely, accurate and quality laboratory investigationservices at affordable prices. The laboratory is accredited by the NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration of Laboratories) since 2019 and has a highly experienced and accomplished faculty. NABL is a full member (MRA signatory) to International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC) as well as Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (APLAC) since 2000 on the basis of peer evaluation by APLAC as per ISO/IEC 17011:2004.

We aim to achieve high reliability and efficiency in all the procedures including patient identification, specimen collection, assaying and reporting as well as follow up.

Haematology

The Haematology Department provides a state-of-the-art investigative facility for comprehensive diagnosis of haematological disorders and The lab has automated haematology ,Coagulation and ESR Analysers by SysmexErba,Mannheim and Diesse. Department follows internal quality control withstandard operating procedures and protocols and lays emphasis on accuracy and precision of test results .Critical call alerts ,delta check and clinical correlation is done for test results . The laboratory is NABL Accredited and we follow international standards – ISO 15189 :2012 laboratory, Department participates in External Quality Assurance Scheme run by AIIMS Delhi and CMC Vellore .

Clinical Pathology

The laboratory has automation in Clinical pathology (Roche -Cobas U 411) as well as manual methods as required.Validation of automated results are done .Internal Quality control and proficiency testing is done to maintain standards laid down by NABL .

Anatomic pathology service include both Histopathology and Cytopathology

The Microbiology Unit is equipped with the latest and standardised equipment and provides high quality services. The Unit traces all positive reports to the bedside by sharing the findings with treating clinical unit for better understanding and actionable result.

Blood culture is done by Automated system BacT ALERT 3D, which detects growth earlier than conventional method.

Bacterial identification and Sensitivity is done by automated Microscan System which along with species level identification of bacteria provides sensitivity with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) values. Antibiotic Sensitivity is done as per the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) with American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) Controls.

Rapid diagnostic tests for major infectious diseases like HIV, HBV, HCV, Typhoid (Typhidot and Widal), Dengue are available with the department.

ELISA for dengue fever is available. Department is performing ELISA for anti-HBs which determines protection against Hepatitis B Virus (HBV).

As we are NABL Accredited laboratory, procedures are meticulously followed adhering to international standards for correct and quality results. Department participates in External Quality Assurance Scheme run by Sir Gangaram Hospital.

A. Division of Histopathology

The Histopathology and Cytopathology Unit offers an accurate opinion on specimens from General Surgery, Gynaecology, Endoscopy lab, Urology, Gastroenterology, Orthopaedics,Respiratory Medicine ENT,Dermatology and highly specialised areas such as Neurology & Oncology.Latest and advanced equipment and technologies by Leica Biosystems with automated tissue processor and others that need manual handling and expertise are used in the procedures for exact disease identification.Laboratory follows External Quality Assurance programmes with TATA Memorial Hospital Mumbai .

B. Division of Cytopathology

Laboratory caters to out patient as well as indoor patients from all specialties.Fluids for cytology are processed in Thermofisher Cytospin.Both conventional & Liquid Base Cytology (LBC) are available for vaginal/cervical smears .Liquipap are processed in LBC Centrifuge - NANOCYTNEO 300 PLUS. Respiratory material like sputum, Bronchial washes, Broncho-alveolar lavage; and Brushings and crush/touch smears from various sites are processed for cytology .

Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC): Diagnosis of superficial and palpable lumps as well as deep seated lesions performed under ultrasound or CT guidance is being provided with a high degree of accuracy. Aspiration of superficial and palpable lumps is done by cytopathologist in the laboratory itself.

The laboratory follows EQAS in Cytopathology to maintain high level of Quality Assurance .

The Division of Clinical Biochemistry & Immunology provides qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological fluids such as blood, serum or plasma, urine and other body fluids etc. to help physicians for screening, diagnosis and monitoring disease progression or response to treatment therapy. The Biochemistry Unit is equipped with the latest and standardised equipment such as Cobas c311 for routine biochemistry and Cobas e 411 for immunoassays.

Examples of tests performed in Clinical Biochemistry & Immunoassay include:

Liver Function Tests, Kidney Function Tests, Pancreatic Function Tests, Lipid Profile, Cardiac Enzymes, Anemia Markers and Vitamins, Inflammatory Markers, Hormones &Tumour Markers, Fluids

Our laboratory is accredited by the NABL (ISO 15189) since 2019. We aim to achieve high reliability and efficiency in all the procedures including patient identification, specimen collection, assaying and reporting as well as follow up.To achieve and assess the quality of our test results we are following Internal Quality Control and External Quality control schemes (CMC vellore). The turnaround time is on par with international standards.
